Hi, I'm new to the forum (but not to keeping pigs).
Following the very unexpected passing of my Rex boar recently, I am looking for another boar to keep his brother company.
I'm kinda struggling to find anyone in the area that breeds piggies though.
I'm in the NE of Scotland (mid-way between Dundee and Aberdeen) but I'm willing to drive quite a distance to find the right pig.
Can anyone recommend anyone in this area?
Also does anyone have a phone number for Thistle Cavies in Perth? |

Hello,
Welcome to the Forum!
Shame you are so far away, I have some lovely dalmatian rex boars for sale!
My good friend Carol at Bellevue stud may be able to help you, she does not breed rex but she has lots of other lovely piggies.
However if she personally has nothing suitable, she is the secretary of the Scottish Cavy Club, so she may be able to put you in touch with some body local.
Go to Bellevue stud and you can e mail her from there.
My e mail is denisekezourec@bt.com, if you cannot get hold of Carol, e mail me, and I will forward your name and address to her.
Hope you find what you are looking for.

Thanks for the information.
I emailed Bellevue stud yesterday morning but as such I haven't had a reply.
I was also looking at rehoming a boar from "Thistle Cavies" (the piggy rescue in Perth) but I've been advised that it's too old (5-6 months) for introducing with another boar.
I'll forward my email address and details to you. If you can forward them to Carol at Bellevue I'd be very grateful. There seems to be something wrong with the email address that you've given, my emails keep getting returned to me.......
Looks like I'm back to baby boar hunting again. I can't believe how hard it is to find someone in this area. |

Hello Ian,
Carol does night duty quite often which may be the reason for the delay, but she is very efficient!!
I do not necc think 6 months is too old to get two boars together, it really depends on their character, I have paired adult boars at times, but obviously you do not want a long drive without a positive result!
I will be very happy to forward your info to Carol.
Good Luck with the search for your boars friend!

It's okay, Carol has been in touch with me.
I've also been offered some boar pups locally (30 miles away or so) that should be ready in a week. If they aren't what I'm looking for I'll make the trip to see Carol (150 miles away or so)..........
Thanks for the help Denise. |
