In my cages I have a few toys and hideys which I swap around to give each piggy family a turn with something new.

I have several of the largest size pigloos, a bunch of drain pipes cut into 1 foot lengths, some smaller pigloos, two 'grassy hutches' which are woven grass hideys (slowly being chewed and destroyed!) Some cardboard tubes to run through, a log cabin and three home made wooden houses shared out between all the pigs.

I also have some cat balls with bells in, hung from the hayracks, which some of the Pingles like to ring for food!

My hayracks are large green wire planters from the garden centre. They are brilliant, and only about 3 quid each. I once found baby Dodger nestling in one! I stuck my hand in to fish out the old hay and there was something warm and furry in there! Shocked I thought he might be stuck, but he soon hopped down. I think he just wanted to have some private hay munching time!

I use parrot-feeders to catch the drips off leaking bottles, hooked underneath the bottle, on the doors. Does anyone know a good make of bottles that don't leak?

I also like to keep a separate dustpan and brush for my boars' cages from the sows' so that nobody smells the sows and goes off and starts fighting his brothers. I also never put anything in their cage that's been used/sat on by a sow. I've had peaceful boar pairs and a trio since trying this.

My newest idea is to nail vet bed all round the inside of my piggies wooden houses for warmth, and to give them a snugglesafe microwavable hot bottle overnight. I'll update on how this goes..........

You have a lovely set up there.
I also have those little cat balls with bells in them, but they don't think much of them yet lol. I have wooden hide away places for them too, in a log effect which they LOVE to hide in to keep warm and climb on! Very Happy

My 4 piggies (the rest of stud's pigs don't get this) get the run of the house. The two boars (both castrated) take it in turns to run about with the two sows.

Zinf, my large boar pretty much runs around for most of the day as he's kept indoors anyway. He just gets locked in at night and when it's Cajun's turn to play with Chives and Chervil.

The four of them used to play happily together until recently. Cajun suddenly decided they were his girlfriends (doesn't seem to register with him that Chives is his sister & Chervil just don't fancy him!) and he attacked Zinf. I split them up and ended up with a huge bite in my finger which has left a nice scar. Cajun came of worse of the two pigs, he had a huge cut underneath his ear. Everyone is ok now though.

They have a 'jingle ball'. It's basically a big ball with a bell in it and they love to knock it around the room with their heads.

Very Happy Some of my piggies have the balls with bells in them but very seldom do they play with them, infact if I hear the bell jingle its only because they have run past and knocked them, in all my cages I have the fruit wooden sticks hanging up and they just love chewing them to bits, thats their favourite toy, now regardng the houseing, my cages are quite big and when the weather got colder last year, I was worried about mine getting TOO cold, the igloos get sweaty and wet inside, so as my hubby had just made some lovely kennels for someone fo rtheir doggies I asked him if he would make a few PIGGY KENNELS for me, boy to they love them they come in 3 different size depending on hutch size etc, I pack them full of hay and they sit i them alday munching away, they are so happy withthem and warm as well. Very Happy

For size and prices of these PIGGY KENNELS check out my website www.freewebs.com/eggstar-cavies under New Products 2007

Sally those are great!!

I need to order one for my two old boys--the rounded pigloos take too much space in a boar block, plus wood is so much better than plastic. How much would it be for a 12 by 18 inch one?

My pigs sometimes have fruit wood sticks too. I gave my three that share a hutch outside a bundle of willow sticks which they devoured. Great for the teeth!

I have some of the 'Piggy Kennels' made by Sally and her husband Brian, and they are fantastic! My piggies love them so much and snuggle down in them Very Happy I have the medium sized ones and two large piggies fit very nicely into them Very Happy and I've seen three average size sows snuggle up in them too Very Happy

My piggies also love cardboard boxes to run through and devour, lol. Also cardboard tubes stuffed with hay or readigrass Very Happy Mine have the cat balls with bells in but I've noticed its more the babies that play with those than the older ones. Mine also like the wooden gnaw sticks that you can get Very Happy

I have also found those plastic pigloos get sweaty and wet inside, but the wooden ones are really good.
I have tried giving my lot those fruit shaped chews and they ignored them Question lol, but I didn't hang them up before. I will try doing that now and see if they like it. Very Happy

Thankyou Sally, that would be lovely! My old boys are getting spoiled this winter because they are over the 4 year mark now bless them. My boars never seem to go on as long as my sows, so I'm cossetting these two as much as poss--they have vetbed, and a snugglesafe heatpad at night, and one of your piggy kennels will complete their luxury!

Shall I give the money to Jo to bring back to you? Or would you like a cheque sent on in advance?

Thankyou!!

Very Happy Hi Vicky,

No probs you can give Jo the money on Sunday, no need to post a cheque thanks for the order and I am sure your 2 lovely boars will love their new kennel, infact you wil have probs getting them to come out from inside them.

Guess What Tango has just had 5 babies, she is busy cleaning them up and the moment, so will email you later with sex's / colours etc.

Please let me know how oyur boys like their new piggy kennels!!

Lilac Cavies, sorry I dont know your name, but if you are intrested in any of the piggy kennels let me know and perhaps we can bring them to a show for you!! Just let me know.

By the way the wooden fruit shapes I bought from Wilkinsons (not sure if their is one near you) but they where about £1.50, for 3 bits of wooden fruit on a metal scewer including teh eye to screw into the top of the cage to hand them from, hope you find them, if not I will try and get some for you and give to you at a show, let me know.

Kind regards

Sally
