Hi there,

I would say the short haired ones are going to be best to start with, because their coats don't take as much looking after.
I am hoping to have some Texel's born this year! Very Happy

I would have said the same !
sort haired piggys will be easyer to look after and clean

you might get borred quickly if you have to rap up all that hair every time ?

i got bored quick just with my pets ! i didnt enjoy it as much as my smooth or rough piggys

I think Abys are brilliant, they have such pigattude and would be great to start your stud off with Very Happy Steve French is the first person to spring to mind who breeds some gorgeous abys Very Happy Check out www.cavybreeder.co.uk and look at the aby breeders on there Very Happy Before buying any in though make sure you check out the show standard if you intend to show them so you know what best to look out for ie. make sure you know of any traits that can be carried through when breeding such as lack of rosettes..... sorry I'm not an aby person so I'm not to sure of what you should be looking for Embarassed

I think Abys are a very difficult breed to show. I breed abys and have had some success with showing mine but am currently looking to improve my lines in order to do better. In my opinion, the Aby standard is so tough to get right but they are absolutely gorgeous and I love mine to bits, so give it a shot.

Jo - who is Steve French - do you have his details? Would be interested in speaking to him.

Maybe you could go for the one you find most appealing and find out as much info as possible before buying and then go from there, thats what I did a few years ago. You might decide to change breeds but eventually you will find one you simply fall in love with, like I did with the Coronets! Very Happy
