........or is it just me? Laughing

I have two texels, and shortly after I got my first they became my favourite breed. Its not just the hair--its their nature, they are brave and laid back, and totally friendly and loving.

I have Doodley, an orange and white, who behaves like a little dog. She is the first to push to the front and ask for veggies, and actually pushes up to me to have her head stroked and her chin rubbed. She is beyond vocal--she never shuts up purring! All you have to do is talk sweetly to her and she'll purr away back to you, and can keep it up for minutes at a time if you cuddle her. She loves to groom people.

Sheep is my other texel, and she is bombproof. Lazy doesn't come into it--she sleeps all day and eats laying down, and will just sit there when you catch her and pick her up. I don't think I ever saw her attempt to run since she grew up.

Doodley will come when called, follow your feet around, and doesn't run at scary noises. For ages I thought she couldn't see properly since she will run round so madly and will bang smack into things. If she wants to be fussed, and you walk off she will wheek insistently to you and sulk when you come back!

I got Doodley from the Chiltern show in 2003, and I remember her breeder's name from her sale card was L. Collins. Does anybody know her or where she is based? as I would love to meet her and tell her what a lovely pig Doodley is, and ask if she has any more texels of her line.

Awww they sound lovely.
I have had a couple of Texels and they were the same, very laid back. I have also found Merino's to be like that as well. Although they have been known to bully other breeds. Merino and Texel do seem to be a very dominant breed when it comes to other cavies.
They are gorgeous.

Now you say that Lilac, I have noticed that my texels aren't afraid of saying excatly what they think to the other pigs! Laughing Not exactly tactful are they! I just love this breed, and I don't have a merino yet! I really must track down Doodley's breeder!

Yes, I think the curly breeds can be rather upfront lol Laughing
I hope you find a Merino soon. You never know, I may even have one born? Smile

Lilac, I'll be keeping an eye on your sales pages:D

Claire, there's pics on my website of all my pigs, including the texels, but its kind of hard to see they are texels as I like to trim the hair short. Lilac cavies has some gorgeous curly pigs on hers!
