--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is my indoor cage.
Dad converted a kitchen cabinet into 3 rat cages (back when I had loads). Then the cages were converted into 1 interconnecting cage. The rats are now confined to the top level because Treacle never climbs down stairs and Seamus is at an old age where his health is beginning to fail (murine respiratory mycoplasmosis) and it's no longer safe for him to climb as he is very wobbly and loses his balance/grip when climbing.
The second level is temporarily home to Chervil & Chives. They will be moving into the cage in the next photo very soon.
The bottom level is home to Zinfandel. She is allowed to go in and out as she pleases during the day and is locked in at night. Chives and Chervil play on the floor with her when I get home from work.
This cage will become home to Chives, Chervil and Cajun very shortly. They can't move in until Cajun has been castrated for two weeks. They will be moving in on 24th October.
They cage was originally meant to house Chicory, but she passed away before it was built. Hence the little bit on the sleeping compartment door, it has a photo of her and the plaque underneath the main door says "Chicory's House 2006". It was built by Dad in Chic's memory.
The above two photos are of Dad's piggery. Again they were all built by Dad.
Dad's cages are built to last. When my rabbit died last year, my fiancee and I demolished the cage that she'd lived in. It had been standing in the garden for about 10 or 11 years and was in need of repair (other animals had lived in it before her). It took us an entire day to demolish it.
Our pigs are fed twice a day (sows three times if nursing a litter).
In the morning they receive a selection of fruit & veg including things like
carrots, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower greens, banana, beans, cucumber, sweet potato, melon, radishes, sweetcorn etc.
Then at night they are fed a dry guinea pig mix. _________________ Kelz A |

The plan was that it was meant to be built for her to live in because she started off in one of Dad's hutches. The plan was to sell her son to Dad, and sell her daughter to whoever I thought a suitable person. I'd have Chicory & Chervil in 'Chicory's House'. Then I decided to keep her daughter as well. When Chic became ill, I told Dad her son was no longer for sale. So now her son (he's been castrated for nearly two weeks now), daughter and Chervil are moving in to the cage on my next day off. It was Dad's idea to put all the bits on the cage for Chiccy. _________________ Kelz A |
