A massive hello to everybody who was at the grazeley show on Sunday!

Nobody has started this thread yet so I thought I'd better do it, specially as I've never had anything to contribute to the show results bit before!!

My Rex sow Belle, who Wheekster very kindly gave me, was given 3rd place out of 5 other piggies, I'm so proud of her, specially as I was sure I'd fluffed her grooming, she had to have a bath the day before as she'd burrowed in all the hay and got hay seeds all deep in her hair!

My little pet dalmatian Tia got a 2nd out of 6 piggies in the smooth pets 5-8, I am very proud of her too, specially as she did get a little bit scared when she was there!

The first place turned out to be some sort of a mix up with whoever wrote out the cards *blush*

You did so well with your piggies Vicky, congratulations Very Happy It was a bit strange how they judged but I didn't do to badly with my piggies. Otis, Cirrus and Cyrus all got a first in their class so we were able to add a few more SCC Stars to their collections Very Happy Cirrus did extremely well coming 4th BIS Very Happy What a Star he is Very Happy

Ah, yes, Four Points. I think they were a little overwhelmed with the entry. 138 pigs is about 100 more than they usually have, and I'm not sure they were prepared for it.

Because they don't usually get as many pigs, the schedule is quite small, also they left the card writing very late. It was one of the first shows I ever went to when I first started showing in 2002.

It was great to see so many people there. I've got a 5/8 Longhair card for 1st place here, it's made out to us, but we didn't have a pig in that class, so if anyone want's to claim it, then let me know.

Believe me, no one was more surprised than me when Margaret gave BIS to our U/5 Alpaca, Skigit - it was her first show - and Reserve BIS with Gulylian, our 5/8 Alpaca. Plus, Best Self with Trinni, our Adult Chocolate, and Reserve Best Self with Maari, our 5/8 Lilac.

We also got Best Pet with Tia (Rough Sow), Reserve with Starlight (longhaired Sow) and 3rd overall with Flame (Rough Sow).

Bless the piggies, didn't they do well.

I don't think they will be getting as big an entry next time as the date clashes with Wiltshire and Eastergate.

It always used to get a good entry, but seems to have slacked off a bit over the years. Shame.

Ok, now I am really confused Confused

One of my friends with us had cards and a rosette which stacked up to best in show, ah unless they do a BIS for Rare varieties....

They usually only do rosettes for BIS and Reserve BIS. I had to ask for both of the rosettes as they had put the RBIS rosette on the wrong pen, and I never saw the BIS rosette.

If your friend has a card that says Grand Challenge Any Age, class 39 then I'm confussed as well, as so do I! Confused

If it is for class 42 then the will be the RV Challenge. A RV can't win BIS, so not sure what's going on there.

If you want to tell me what cards you friends piggy has and what breed it is then I'll try to sort it out for you. Very Happy

Cheers
Julie

Ah, must have been the RV challenge then as the Fox only has a guide standard at the moment so can't challenge in the open show yet.

Just a matter of time before it gets it's full stancard and can be up there competing with the other breeds Very Happy

all the best in show rosettes and reserve best in show rosettes where the same
for the mouse, hamster, chinchilla, rat and cavy even the dagu

they all had 1st and 2nd BIS

the open, RV and Pets all had a 1st and reserve
so i dont think there was any confusion ? *giggle*

personaly i didnt understand any of the show ?
but i still think its a shame when there is no best of breed rosettes ?
dont you think ? ? ?

They only give BIS and Reserve BIS rosettes out for each section - Cavy, Rabbit, Mouse, Rat, etc. No other rosettes are awarded.

I don't mind not having the rosette as I nabbed another one on the way out!!!

The thing is the club is only small and they make very little profit on the shows. If they gave BOB rosettes out they would be running at a loss, plus they don't usually have enough exibits to warrant it. The only other way would be for sponsored rosettes, but it would end up with the same people sponsoring all the time.

The Best Pet gets a little momento donated by Sandleford Crafts.

Maybe if they got a good entry every time they would be able to risk spending more on rosettes, but as it is they don't. Their Cavy entry is usually only about 40 on average. They hold 5 shows a year.

Perhaps now that they are able to offer SCC stars again, and advertising in Cavies they will get more people interested. That in turn will increase the money coming into the club, and they will be able to give more back.
