Today i bought 5 guineas from a lady nr Derby , 3 from her herself & 2 (6 week old babies, 1 Texal and 1 merino) of were bought for me via her friend (nr Nottingham) as i asked if she could locate any texal/merino sows. I brought them home (1 hr 30 mins drive) fans and windows open and went straight away to get them out and to my disbeleif the baby merino was DEAD. The little texal isnt good but the other 3 month old sow seems ok.

The wrost of it, is that the babies were for my kids and my 6 year old is absolutly devastated, he has sast and cried for about a hour. He is ab. fab. with my guineas and has tamed nearly all of my babies, he sits for ages picking them up from there runs

Rang the lady back straight away and was told to contact the lady who she had bought them offf & she also had added £6 onto the price, she had paid £12 each and charged me £15 each, £6 for a couple of calls!!!!!!

Original breeder said as she had left them in good faith, the onus was on the other lady, who just said it must have been heatstroke. How quick can heatstoke happen but it just seems funny, the 2 arnt ok but the other is?

If anyone knows, if anyone has a texal or merino baby sow, could they please get in touch as i have a very upset little boy. I can travel so far but not way out
HAVE I BEEN DONE?

When its really hot outside and i have put my guiena pigs out in their runs i normally get an ice pack and wrap in a kitchen towel and put in it their run, and they lean against it and keeps them cool, also provide them lots of shade, plus sometimes i even put a tub of water in their run so they can dip their little paws in, some of my guiena pigs have had the courage others just scream and run.. hehehe.

Also this may be obvious but provide with fresh cold water.

That is how i keep my guinea pigs cool, why not try some of it out!

Very Happy
